Oral Sedation Options

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is a sedation dentistry method that allows you to take a small anti-anxiety medication before your procedure. Please arrange for someone to bring you to this appointment, as they will be escorting you to and from our office. Typically, you will be prescribed the medication prior to your appointment, and asked to take it about one hour before your visit. After you are brought back to your treatment room, we will give you a blanket and make sure that you are comfortable and relaxed. You will be monitored by our dental professionals throughout the duration of your procedure and will be returned to your accompaniment thereafter.

Additional Sedation Dentistry Methods

NITROUS OXIDE

Nitrous oxide is a great sedation dentistry method that alleviates mild to moderate dental anxiety. By emitting a colorless, odorless gas through a small nasal mask, we are able to monitor your safety, and ensure that your anxiety and stress is eliminated. You are able to leave your appointment as you did when you arrived.

LOCAL ANESTHETIC

Local anesthetic numbs a localized part of your mouth for your specific procedure. By administering a numbing medication into your gum or cheek, we are able to centralize the anesthetic solution and only numb a certain part of your mouth. Because you are not being sedated, you are able to leave the office as you did when you arrived.

NEEDLE FREE ANESTHESIA

While nitrous oxide and oral sedation do not use needles to eliminate anxiety, they are sometimes combined with local or needle-free anesthesia to make you relaxed and comfortable during treatment. Such needle-free anesthetics include products like Oraqix®, a solution applied beneath the gum line to numb soft tissues.
